Industrial Manufacturing Technician (IMT) Pre-Apprenticeship Program
About This Program

Catalyst Connection’s Industrial Manufacturing Technician (IMT) Pre-Apprenticeship Program helps high school students begin a pathway to a rewarding career in manufacturing while supporting Pennsylvania’s Act 158 graduation requirements. As manufacturing technologies evolve, entry-level positions require higher skill levels, and this program equips students with the foundational knowledge and credentials employers value. Through a flexible, school-integrated curriculum, students gain exposure to real-world manufacturing concepts, earn up to seven industry-recognized certifications, and explore career opportunities with local companies.
The program includes Manufacturing Skills Standard Council (MSSC) modules including Safety, Quality, Manufacturing Processes and Production, and Maintenance Awareness.
The IMT Pre-Apprenticeship Program combines classroom learning with real-world experiences to prepare students for careers in manufacturing. Participants benefit from hands-on technical training days, job shadowing opportunities, and the chance to gain work experience with local manufacturers—providing a strong foundation for future success.
Students who complete the IMT Pre-Apprenticeship Program may be eligible to earn college credit through Catalyst Connection’s articulation agreements with Westmoreland County Community College (WCCC), Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC), and Community College of Beaver County (CCBC). These agreements help students get a head start on their post-secondary education while exploring advanced manufacturing careers. In addition, program completers may receive advanced standing in Catalyst Connection’s Industrial Manufacturing Technician (IMT) Registered Apprenticeship, giving them a valuable advantage as they transition into the workforce.
