Overview
The Chemistry Lab Technician Apprenticeship Program prepares apprentices to support scientific research and experiments in academic, industrial, or pharmaceutical laboratories. Apprentices gain hands-on experience conducting experiments, analyzing substances, maintaining lab equipment, and ensuring safety in the laboratory. Their work is essential for accurate data collection, experiment execution, and maintaining a safe lab environment.
Program Structure
Over two years, apprentices complete technical instruction and practical labs at the Bidwell Training Center, covering chemistry for technicians, organic and materials chemistry, lab measurements and solutions, chemical reactions, titrations, instrumental analysis, and professional development. Graduates earn Journeyworker Papers from the Department of Labor & Industry, a Chemistry Lab Technician Diploma from Bidwell, an OSHA 10 Certificate, and the German Chemie LaborantIn Apprenticeship Certificate (DIHK).
